Thoughts on Squad Structure. Lets Brainstorm.
All members have a competitive bone in there body, otherwise we wouldnt really care one way or the other if we win or loose. Correct? I must admit that I am extremely competitive. While having fun with a group of friends that you can kick back and enjoy a few laughs and headshots with is great; when the competition starts I want to win. We have a lot of talent. No denying that. Our goal though should be to figure out how to harness this talent by identifying our members strenghts and weakness and moulding our squads and teams from there. We should set members up for success, never for failure. So to keep this short, I have an idea I would like to bounce off of everyone. I'm thinking dedicated squads. I suggest that every squad leader finds members they are compatable with. I'm not talking E-harmony kind of compatable, we arent all going to be taking long walks on the beaches and petting puppies together. But find members that with a little practice can read and know our next move even without verbal communication. I would love to see each squad "Click" and work like a finely tuned V8 (Swiss Watch, machine, you get my point). Does this make sense? I think that if we practice and compete with the same squads we will build such a stronger team. While there are some non-linear issues such as fill-ins/back-ups/ and replacements to consider this should not be that much of an issue. While most of us are flexible in our classes each squad should set up for each members strengths. We dont want all our best medics on one squad for example. Anyway, I've went on long enough I suppose. Give some feedback. Sincerely Damien aka..Mercury.

Well said, Woo. I like that idea a lot and definitely think we can play a lot better than we have been. My biggest concern is breaking that "not wanting to hurt friends feelings" barrier. With an always growing clan, EVERY member can't always play in private matches. When we play a really good clan (ex. the Renegades), we need our BEST players. I know it's hard to turn people away but we want to be know as a winning clan, right? Finding the right mix of team members for each squad would be really beneficial. No one needs to take it personally if they don't get picked because it isn't like that. For me, when we are doing a private match, it's about winning, so I want to play with the best. It's nothing personal at all, I just want to win these matches, LOL.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing to consider.. I don't want to sound like a broken record but teammates need to LISTEN during these private matches. That is one problem we definitely experienced (and are still experiencing) during the past few. We can't have people running around like a bunch of fuckin retards or we're going to keep getting killed. Good communication is critical. If we have appointed captains, the people under those captains need to listen to them at all times. I still want this to be fun but I want to win, too. In order to achieve the right balance between the two, communication and squad discipline need to be better. My opinion, like I said before, is that if you don't listen, you don't play. Period. What do you guys think?
ReplyDeleteListening is a must. Another point I think is important that alot of AMGers forget is, Its not always important to have the highest score! Especially when in a clan match, as long as we win the match, who cares who has the highest score. Other than those two things, I'm open to the teams idea.

I agree totally with all the above said. We need a communication officer, who's first task is to get everyone on board with this site. This site is a great tool. Lets use it. If some of our members cant get access to it, then lets figure out another way to reach out and touch them. Be it X-box messages, texts, or pony express. Though we need to get as many people on board this site as possible.
ReplyDeleteGreat point Gr3ndel! The points don't really mean shit if we don't win the match. I can sit there and revive you a million times and not kill a single person and lead the team in points while someone else kills 20 people and not even come close to leading the board. MOST of the clan listens really well but there are a few that like to go and do their own thing which makes it really hard to make teamwork successful.
ReplyDeleteTo bring up a point mentioned in a prior post ( I think by Steelerfan) communication is key. Well, a balanced communication line is key. Over communication is just as bad as No communication. I'm as guilty as anyone else when I get frustrated words start flying and I litter the channel with irrelivant banter. Lets All work on this. Cutting out the unneccessary and only putting over the waves what is neccessary. For Example "ARRRRGGGHHHH. THAT MOTHER FUCKER!!!!! HOW DID HE SEE ME??????!!!!! NO WAY! I STABBED HIM IN THE FACE!! NO WAY HE SHOT ME THROUGH THAT BUS OF NUNS!!" That statement does Zilch for the rest of the squad and ties up the lines. At that time someone mite of actually had a good bit of usefull intel to share.
ReplyDeleteIf they dont want to listen then they dont play next time. Repeat offenders get dropped from AMG. We'll make it simple. The easiest way to overcome this is if each captain picks there squads. To coin an Indiana Jones movie "Choose Wisely". Now on nights were we are all just playing without any objective (Such as practice or a clan battle) Then yeah...it doesnt matter.
ReplyDeleteThis is all going to be trial and error of course. So there is flexablitly.
