Twelve on Twelve. Squad Format. Got an idea.

The problems of communication that rise from having a full team have always had me searching for a solution. Well, perhaps I might of came up with a solution. I would appreciate everyones input on this. We have tried another clans method, and it didnt quite fit us right. Well, what if we basically split that third squad and did two parties of six? Not only for communication, but if each squad took two members from the third squad. While spawning would be an issue, that could be worked out by having those two members act in roles that dont have them acting as point in a full out assault. On defense, each six man squad could devote a member from that third squad as an Intel agent, be it through the scope of a sniper rifle or through use of the UAV (A tool that I dont think we exploit. It has GREAT recon value, with limited attack value..a point I'll come back to.) This way each squad gets information on what the enemy is doing. The Intel person if a sniper would try to find a spot that affords him coverage of an M-com station, and can give intel on enemy movement. The other squads UAV operator would for the most part observe movement and inform his squad of dangers. Using only the attack aspect if it can eliminate the immediate danger to the m-com. If it gets more heat than the sniper or UAV operator can handle, the second member of the diveded squad comes into play. He should be the back-up protector. Someone that has eyes on the M-com at all times and is concealed enough to give the element of surprise. If 3 people have eyes on the station (I dont mean on top of it, but withing 50 yards unless your a sniper) that will allow the other 3 people of each squad to cover the flanks and afford them mobility. This is all based upon Teamwork, Patience and Discipline of course. When one station goes down, the 3 people from the destroyed station just join the others with eyes, while the remaining gaurd the flanks. In a nut shell, two 6 man squads, each with its own communication party (This will cut out confusing cross-line communications), 3 eyes on, and 3 guarding flanks.

  1. Also thinking of doing a training night to cover the basic tactics. Sort of like a practice night, but not. We all know how to run IN a group, but not all know how to run AS a group. While this is not a branch of the armed service, it wouldnt hurt to take a few concepts and put them in use.

  2. I may be getting to far a head of myself, but you cant really say I'm Thinking to much. Look at the Renegades. While they have beast players, our players are just as deadly, if not more so in my opinion. I dont think the renegades so much as out-play us, as they out think us (meaning strategize).

  3. Lets try that tactic, defensive but also gives an offensive approach - I like this style.

Basic tactics - Mercury you say your shit at the eng kit - let me or steeler show you how to use this kit to its max - this will help you think what ur lads are doing on the field.

I need to be shown C4 tactics - so who can help?

Lastly, communication, well I think the capt's should pick one player to join them (in most normal games) in a 2 only party and so get a near pefect synergy going between them.
THEN move onto a 3 player party , etc etc etc until we have a 4 player party that would make any "Renegade" or "WaR I" shit his pants.

  6. This is definitely worth trying. I like the idea of using recon and being patient when need be. Also, limiting the communication might help because every one talking at once can get quite confusing.

We are great at just rushing and pushing through on the offense but when the defense can stop that plan of attack it tends to frustrate us, so I think patience is a major asset for us to attain. And snipers can be a very powerful tool, even if we run just 1 or 2 snipers it can have a major impact.

  7. Another thing I think we need to brainstorm on how to overcome is communications between the two team leaders. There has to be a way to let them talk, weather it be by phone or some other way. If our two team leads can talk in real time I think It would be a HUGE asset.

  8. First I really like your idea Mercury but that is an IDEAL way to communicate. We can't even communicate when there are only eight players. I think that we need to stick with the 8 and 4 for the time being and gradually work towards your communication strategy as we improve. This is where the commincation between TEAM LEADERS is key! Not taking anything away from Corey's squad on saturday night because they play very well together, but being the squad leader of the other squad I found it really hard to find out what they were up to because NO one in their squad was giving orders! I think I was the only one telling people what to do and it shouldn't be like that. Each squad has a LEADER for a reason and they need to communicate to their squad not only for the benefit of their own squad but for the benefit of the other squad leaders, as well. That way they can know what the other squads are doing. This will cut down on lighting the MCOMS with no other squads in the area. I like your idea of using the UAV as a recon tool and also using it as a defensive tool to keep the enemy from defusing the MCOMS. But this is REALLY hard to do in a match of 8. I think the UAV can only be used at the beginning of the matches with 8 people. I like the idea of having a sniper/anchor. I think that they need to play the dual role since they are only going to be sitting back a liitle bit and not attacking the stations themselves. Communication is key to winning these matches, and I think all squad leaders including myself need to step up and tell our team what's going on.

  9. Grendel, this is regarding your post about the squad leaders talking to each other. As far as that goes, all three captains usually meet in person before every private match to go over strategy. We didn't this past match since the tornadoes and Easter kind of messed everything up. The Captains all decided that there will be no more random maps! It makes it too hard to come up with strategy the minute you find out what map you're going to play. I talk to Mercury and Shadow on a regular basis since we all live within 5-10 minutes of each other. Hopefully there won't be fucking storms tearing shit up so we can come up with strategy for our next match.

  10. Steeler, pre game talks is one thing but IN GAME communication is a completely different thing, and that was what I was trying to say. We have to find a way to let our team leaders talk in game so that if we need to adjust our plans everyone is on the same page. There has never been a successful game plan that started pre game and lasted till the end.

  11. Maybe we should look at seeing if anyone would be interested in becoming a "radio man." they could swap phone numbers and then with one on each team, they could communicate the team leaders info to their team leader.

    For example
me and shadow decided to sign up for "radio men."
We exchange phone numbers and are on different teams.
Merc is my team leader, steeler is shadows. things arnt going well so Merc changes up his plans. He says Grendel, let steeler know. I call shadow and let him know mercs plans, he then relays that to steeler

  12. Grendel, that is a great idea about having radio men, but our clan isn't disciplined enough to even run efficiently with eight in a party at this point. Plus with rush, the game is so fast paced that it would be difficult to call someone, have them answer and then relay the messages to the other leaders. That might work in squad deathmatch but in this case, I just think that it might take too long to get the messages back and forth. We kind of tried something similar with Kevin (ChaosEmperor) and Corey because they play in different rooms and could yell back and forth to each other. It had mixed results. I really like your idea and think it could work but I also feel like this is something that we need to work up to. If our two squad leaders can't even talk to each other in the same party right now, I doubt they would be able to use a radio man to transfer orders. I feel that this all can be resolved if the two main squad leaders talk in the party of eight and have the other 4 guys be our demo squad. They could be detached from the other party because they would be doing their own thing anyway. (blowing up tanks, shooting down choppers, etc) These are just some ideas grendel. I'm not saying we CAN'T do your idea but I think we need to take little steps first and then jump to the six and six parties in the future.

  13. I like the "Radio Man" (No, not the charector from the movie) idea, but that will take some practice to pull off, it would have to be one of the eyes on guys. Mobile forces wouldnt have time at all. As for the 6 on 6 communication, as long as each squad of 6 knew what exactly there job is this would work. It wont work at all though if each squad of 6 doesnt know there role, or it is ill defined. The negative aspects are. 1. If there is not a clear mission for the squad, then it affects all 12 badly, 2. it knocks out a squad leader. Instead of 3, there would only be 2. This might actually be a good thing though. Not so many cooks in the kitchen. One solution to that is, a set of Assault squad leaders that know the plans and communicate it to the squad, and one set of squad leaders for defense. This would complicate matters a little at first though, but some of us are defensive minds, and others offensive. Kinda like football teams that have both defensive and offensive coordinators.

  14. A key to a lot of our issues might be practice time. I dont want to take away from our just fun and gun nights, but perhaps we need some more practice time, running with diffrent ideas to see what sticks and what doesnt. Some of the walls we encounter might disolve with some good solid practice.

  15. As for demo, BaldJaun, Steeler are great at vehicles. Grendel and I have buildings down to a science. With Bldgs, run assault with C4, Extra Explosive, and Extra Explosive damage. 4 sticks will bring a two story bldg down in no time at all with Explosive 2 on. It takes like 10 seconds in, plant, and to get clear.

  16. I like Mercurys idea i think it would work for 12 on 12 matches it would cut down on the amount of people we have in a party. I also think having an snipers/anchors is a great idea. And if we are going to have parties with 6 instead of 8 people then why don't we try 4 squads of 3 instead of 3 squads of 4 that way all 6 people will be in 2 squads instead of having one squad that is in 2 different parties, just an idea but i think it would help with spawns and communication even more.

  18. I'm all for trying just about anything, the question is, when are we gonna do this practice thing? Let's get off our butts and schedule a practice night this week.

  19. some one should create a new thread where we can post available times for practice so we can make a schedule...

  20. Well we don't have a big match this week. The one on Saturday is Mercury, Grendel, Brad, and Monty. This is Mercury's match so you would need to get up with him about practice times for this match. In general, I'm always available from about 5:30-7:30 EST time. I can be on earlier if need be but not later.
